Acronyms & Definitions

• CMDVS:
• GSE: Ground Station Equipment. Any equipment used to interact with flight equipment that isn't part of the instrument itself.
• GU: Ground unit.
• GUC: Ground Unit Computer. Computer used to control the GU.
• IOR: Instrument Operations Request. Outlines operational commands for STIX and is uploaded to the instrument.
• MOC: Mission Operations Centre. Located at Darmstadt. Manages Solar Orbiter satellite operations as distinct from science instrument operations.

• SOC: Science Operations Centre. Located at ESAC in Madrid. Coordinates science operations for all Solar Orbiter instruments and liaises with the MOC which has responsibility for the satellite itself.
